Bond 23 back on track for November 2012 release

12 Jan

The big news of the day came yesterday afternoon when MGM and EON officially announced that James Bond is back!  With the financial bankruptcy of MGM stalling the development of the 23rd installment of one of the most successful movie franchises in history, it was a mystery to most fans when the next bond film would be made, if at all.  However, the next Bond film will begin filming shortly and is slated for release on November 9, 2012.

Along with the announcement that Bond will be returning to the screen also comes the news that Daniel Craig will be reprising his role as James Bond, this comes as no surprise but suggests that the next Bond film will be a direct sequel of Quantum of Solace and will show James Bond as he finally becomes the man he is known in legend.  In fact, not much will change for this Bond as regular names of the series, Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, and John Logan are attached to the project as well.

One new face attached to the film will be the man filling the director’s seat, Sam Mendes.  Mendes’s filmography is not extensively long but includes some critically acclaimed and highly successful films such as American Beauty, Road to Perdition, and Revolutionary Road.  The list of highly anticipated films for 2012 is growing rapidly with this being the newest addition, and while Bond fans are often on different sides of the fence about the previous two films and their loyalty to the series, it is no doubt this film will be a success by namesake alone.

The name's Bond, James Bond

Are you looking forward to the next Bond film?  Where does it rank among your anticipated films for 2012?  What is it from this Bond film that you’d like to see from Craig and Mendes?
